Cantor Nico Feldman - Eilou Devorim

http://sharebee.com/61e7fd0f

imho, wonderful rendition taken from Pathe's vinyl (Pathe AT 1037)

but! i have a "hard" question: does he really was a cantor?!?

as far as i know he was born in Romania, studied music in Bucharest, in the end of 30s settled in Israel and sang in opera. in the early 50s he went to France. that's all.

sure, as a little boy he sang in synagogue. but "when" and "where" he became a cantor?

ps
unfortunately, i have no information when he was born. i have no idea if he still alive too.

he was a chazzan and a folk singer - but he held a cantorial position most his life, his name was (nico) avrum feldman.

died in 1980 - in florida

please check my last post on chazzan hitzkopf and try to respond

thanks

Dear holoimes
There is info and a picture in a 1968 Miami News article..see

http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2206&dat=19680725&id=VqwyAAAAIBAJ&sjid=7ukFAAAAIBAJ&pg=3961,3528146

It mentions that since 1965, Cantor Feldman had been at Temple Menorah, Miami Beach.
There is also a brief biography on the back of the LP "Great Cantors of the Present" available in the Dartmouth Jewish Sound Archive.
